Hey @totalard, we already support latest Gemini (e.g. 2.5 flash preview 05-20 thinking) via Kilo Code API and Open Router API.

I agree with the statement that users should be able to include latest models without waiting for IDE software update. I'm curious when Kilo Code will begin to support Claude 4. https://kilocode.ai/docs/providers/anthropic#supported-models

Unfortunately there are also some configuration params that we need so it's not that simple as only typing the name for a model to just work. See https://github.com/Kilo-Org/kilocode/blob/main/src/shared/api.ts#L672 for example. This is one of the reasons we added the Kilo Code provider, to be able to provide new models on the spot without needing to release an update. We're also thinking on how to do this when you use the gemini provider directly. Latest Gemini support is close though, will be out today in #513
