document global variables?

Is there a way to set per document global variables? Not global vars in the configuration, and not page-specific variable- one limited to a single .drawio file that is accessible via multiple pages?

I've tried several iterations using placeholder with no luck, both on desktop and on the webapp:

ah- I was searching for variables, not properties. Oof. that's a bummer. I have the same problem as the original reporter and was trying to get around it.
