# Spaghetti Recipe

## Introduction

This document provides a basic recipe for making spaghetti, a classic Italian pasta dish. Spaghetti is a versatile and popular meal that can be prepared with various sauces and ingredients.

## Ingredients

- 1 pound (450g) spaghetti
- 4 quarts (3.8 liters) water
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (optional)

## Instructions

1. Bring water to a boil:
- In a large pot, bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil over high heat.
- Add 1 tablespoon of salt to the boiling water.

2. Cook the spaghetti:
- Add the spaghetti to the boiling water.
- Stir gently to prevent the pasta from sticking together.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes, or according to package instructions, until al dente.

3. Drain the pasta:
- Once cooked, drain the spaghetti in a colander.
- If desired, toss the drained pasta with olive oil to prevent sticking.

4. Serve:
- Serve the spaghetti immediately with your choice of sauce.

## Serving Suggestions

Spaghetti can be served with various sauces and toppings, such as:

- Tomato sauce
- Meat sauce (Bolognese)
- Alfredo sauce
- Garlic and olive oil (Aglio e Olio)
- Pesto

Add grated Parmesan cheese and fresh herbs like basil or parsley for extra flavor.

## Tips

- Salt the water generously to enhance the pasta's flavor.
- Don't overcook the spaghetti; it should be firm to the bite (al dente).
- Reserve some pasta cooking water before draining to add to your sauce if needed.

Enjoy your homemade spaghetti!
