# Spaghetti

Spaghetti is a long, thin, cylindrical pasta that is a staple of Italian cuisine. This document provides an overview of spaghetti, its preparation, and serving suggestions.

## What is Spaghetti?

Spaghetti is made from durum wheat semolina and water. It is typically between 0.06 and 0.11 inches (1.5 to 2.8 mm) in diameter and can vary in length, but is usually 10 to 12 inches (25 to 30 cm) long.

## Cooking Spaghetti

To cook spaghetti:

1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
2. Add the spaghetti to the boiling water.
3. Cook for 8-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until al dente (firm to the bite).
4. Drain the spaghetti in a colander.

## Serving Suggestions

Spaghetti can be served with a variety of sauces and toppings:

- Tomato-based sauces (e.g., marinara, arrabbiata)
- Meat-based sauces (e.g., bolognese)
- Olive oil and garlic (aglio e olio)
- Carbonara (with eggs, cheese, and pancetta)
- Pesto

## Nutritional Information

Spaghetti is primarily a source of carbohydrates. One cup (140g) of cooked spaghetti typically contains:

- Calories: 221
- Carbohydrates: 43g
- Protein: 8g
- Fat: 1g
- Fiber: 2.5g

## Storage

Dry spaghetti can be stored in an airtight container in a cool, dry place for up to two years. Cooked spaghetti should be refrigerated and consumed within 3-5 days.

Remember to always check the expiration date on the package and follow proper food safety guidelines when preparing and storing spaghetti.
